Cycling grade: We grade this trip as moderate to difficult, and suitable for experienced cyclists who can carry their own luggage on bikes and can do ~100 km/63 mi and more each day. Daily biking routes, mainly on roads with little traffic (more traffic on roads in Russia) and cycle paths in Finland and Estonia, ranging from 33 to 124 km (21-78 miles) each day. The terrain is varied and rolling with some gradual hills on some cycling days.

One tour, three countries! Enjoy the self-guided bike tour around the Finish Gulf of the Baltic Sea and discover Finland, Russia and Estonia. Explore the Baltic coast and the National Parks of Estonia and Finland on very scenic routes. The tour includes the National Park Lahemaa, which is one of the last unspoiled regions of the Baltic coast, two capital cities – Tallinn and Helsinki, and the highlight of the tour - Saint Petersburg, also known as the 'Cultural Capital of Russia'. Tallinn old town and historical centre of St. Petersburg are designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. Start the tour in Tallinn (or Helsinki), travel by ferry to Helsinki and start your round cycling trip to St. Petersburg in the east and further back to Tallinn along the Southern coast of the Finish Gulf, experience a wide variety of towns, villages and countryside for an excellent introduction to the very distinct characters of these different countries.

Day 1: Arrive in Tallinn
Individual arrival in Tallinn and transfer (not included) to your hotel. Overnight at 4* hotel in Tallinn.
Day 2: Tallinn – Helsinki – Porvoo, ~60 km /37 mi
The ferry will take you to Helsinki, from where you start your cycling tour towards St.Peterburg. Quiet bike road will lead you to the second oldest city in Finland – Porvoo. A river flows through the city, passing Porvoo’s most well-known landmarks: its red shore houses. Overnight at a hotel in Porvoo.
Day 3: Porvoo – Kotka, ~82 km / 51 mi
A bike road first will take you to Loviisa, a small seaside town that has retained its old wooden houses and its sense of authenticity. Market square, its surroundings and the Bonga Castle are worth visiting here. Continue to Kotka, a picturesque town with a rich maritime tradition. It is home to the Finish Maritime Museum and the Maretarium. Overnight at a hotel in Kotka.
Day 4: Kotka – Vyborg (Russia), ~124 km / 77 mi
A bike road continues all the way to Finland's oldest garrison town Hamina. The city’s 360-year history can be appreciated by exploring the city centers circular town plan and fortifications. A small and twisty road will continue to the Russian border and further to the city of Vyborg, birthplace of world-famous Jean Sibelius. This appealing provincial town on the Gulf of Finland is dominated by a medieval castle and peppered with beautiful Finnish art-nouveau buildings and romantic cobblestone streets. Overnight at a hotel in Vyborg.
Day 5: Vyborg – Luzhki, ~70 km / 43 mi
The route from Vyborg to Luzhki is on a secondary road, close to the shores of Baltic Sea. Primorsk, the second largest Russian port on the Baltic Sea, once belonging to Finland, has some well-preserved Finnish heritage worth visiting. Overnight at a hotel in Luzhki.
Day 6: Luzhki – St.Peterburg, ~110 km / 68 mi
A secondary road will take you to St. Peterburg, the highlight of this tour. On the way you will pass summer resorts with both Soviet and Tsar Peter the Great heritage, and fine sand beaches for refreshing swim. With its numerous palaces, museums, churches, restaurants and cafes, St. Peterburg needs more time. It is recommended to stay there more than one night. Overnight at a hotel in St.Petersburg (not included).
Day 7: St. Peterburg – Peterhoff, ~33 km / 20 mi
After short ride from St.Peterburg, you will reach Peterhoff. The palace and the gardens with numerous fountains, are the main sights there. Plan some hours for the visit. Overnight in Peterhoff.
Day 8: Peterhoff – Kingissepp, ~115 km / 71 mi
The way from Peterhoff to Kingissepp is a cycling day with no interesting sights on the way except a few small Russian villages. Overnight at a Hotel in Kingissepp.
Day 9: Kingissepp – Toila (Estonia), ~80 km / 50 mi
Cycle to the Russian border point in Ivangorod where you cross the border to the Estonian town Narva, which is a melting pot of Estonian and Russian cultures. Once a prime example of Baroque architecture in Europe, the town was heavily damaged in WWII and later it was almost entirely rebuilt. Continue cycling to Toila, en route pass by Narva-Jõesuu resort dotted with spas and a large sandy beach that draws in holiday makers every summer, and Sillamäe town, which due to its industry in the post-war period of Stalin, was closed for visitors for a long time. Overnight at a hotel in Toila.
Day 10: Toila – Vihula, ~100 km / 62 mi.
The road from Toila to Vihula is on the top of the cliff with some amazing views to the Baltic Sea. You will pass Estonia's highest waterfall in Valaste and the romantic Saka Spa Hotel (coffee break!). Then you will continue to the famous Lahemaa National Park. Overnight at a hotel in Vihula.
Day 11: Vihula – Tallinn, ~105 km / 65 mi
From Vihula, you will continue towards Tallinn. Sagadi and Palmse Manor houses are on your way as well as most famous Estonian nature sight, Viru Bog. The old Tallinn-Narva road will take you to Estonia's biggest waterfall, Jägala Waterfall, and then you will cycle around the old mine to Maardu. From there, there is a bike path to Tallinn. Overnight at 4* hotel in Tallinn.
Day 12: Tallinn – end of the tour
